A color wheel is a diagram that shows how mixing colors works. When you mix with any two of the three primary colors, you can create an array of secondary colors in shades of orange, purple and green. When you mix a primary with a secondary color, you can explore another level of tertiary tones. Complementary colors live opposite each other on the color wheel, which means they look good beside each other in your artwork, or you can mix them to get darker, shadowy colors.
